Importers and dealers

The manufacturer is the economic operator that first ensures that every product is safe and in accordance with the regulations but all players of the delivery chain, the importer, the distributor, the retailer etc. are responsible for distributing only products that are safe.

When the manufacturer reside outside EEA the importer plays an important role since it is the importer who places the product on the market in Sweden. Almost all electrical products have to be CE-marked and they are not allowed on the European market unless they have a CE-mark. If the product is fitted with a plug, the plug shall be Swedish.

Declaration of Conformity

On request, the importer shall provide the Swedish National Electrical Safety Board with a Declaration of Conformity as well as technical documentation for the product irrespective of whether the product has been imported from a different EEA country or a country outside the EEA.

All of the economic operators are responsible for the safety of products

Manufacturers, importers and dealers are all responsible for ensuring that the products they sell are safe. They must also initiate corrective measures whenever there is a suspicion of a non-conformity with one of the products that the sell or have been selling.
