Requirements for A
To obtain a full authorisation, A, you must meet an education requirement and a practical experience requirement. The requirements are contained in the National Electrical Safety Board's requirements ELSÄK-FS 2017:4.
The A authorisation covers all electrical installation work.
Education
To meet the education requirement for an A authorisation, the applicant must have completed and passed education covering the knowledge and skill requirements in Annexes 1 and 2 of the National Electrical Safety Board's regulations ELSÄK-FS 2017:4.

Practical experience
To meet the practical experience requirement for an A authorisation, you must have worked with electricity for at least four years. Note the following:
- You must have worked for at least one year in an electrical installation company carrying out electrical installation work in high voltage systems (mandatory).
- You must have worked for at least one year in an electrical installation company carrying out electrical installation work in low voltage systems (mandatory).
- You also have the option of crediting other work involving electricity as part of the practical experience requirement (up to two years). The work must be in one of the fields set out in Annex 1 or 2 of the authorisation regulations (ELSÄK-FS 2017:4).
- If you received your education in Sweden, your practical experience can be undertaken in Sweden, or in another EEA country or Switzerland. If you received your education outside Sweden, at least half the practical experience must be undertaken in Sweden, and the remaining time can be completed in another EEA country or in Switzerland.

Qualifications gained abroad
If you are authorised as an electrician in another EEA country or Switzerland, you can apply for a corresponding authorisation in Sweden. The process is governed by the Act on the recognition of professional qualifications. Note that in order to meet the requirements for an A authorisation, you must be licensed in the other EEA country or Switzerland to carry out all kinds of electrical installation work.
